Road Construction in Murchison Falls National Park for perfect safaris : Murchison falls national park is the largest national park in the north western part of Uganda which was gazetted in 1952 covering over a total area of 3840 sq. km. The park is locally known as Kabalega National Park which is popular known for the most powerful waterfalls with large volumes of water from Victoria Nile which forces through Gorge. This Conservation Area extends to Bugungu wildlife Reserve and Karuma wildlife Reserves.

Murchison Falls National Park extends to a number of districts in northern Uganda such as Kiryandongo, Masindi, Bulisa and Nwoya. Murchison Falls National Park is the most popular national park with a variety of attractions and activities to take part in while on Uganda Safaris Tours thus regarded as the tourist destination in Uganda.  The park has different vegetations that is the Swamps, Savannah woodlands, savannah plains and forested areas which inhabits a variety of wildlife species such as Mammals, Primates, Reptiles and Birds.

There are a number of wildlife species that can be spotted while on Game drives, guided nature walks and hiking, boat cruise safari activities and among many others through the park. These include Elephants, Jackson’s hartebeest, Uganda Kobs, Buffaloes, Leopards, Lions, Giraffes, Hippos, Waterbucks, Warthogs among others.  Murchison Falls National Park is also a birder’s Haven with over 451 bird species. Among those are Abyssinian ground hornbill , shoebill stork , Goliath Heron, African Fish Eagle, African Jacana, African Quail-Finch, African Skimmer, Bar-breasted Firefinch, Beautiful Sunbird, Black Crake, Black-billed Barbet, Black-billed Wood-Dove, Black-faced Waxbill, Black-headed Batis, Black-headed Gondola, Black-headed Gonolek, Black-headed Plover, Blue-headed Coucal, Blue-napped Moosebird, Bluff-bellied Warbler, Chestnut-crowned Sparrow Weaver, Dark Chanting-Goshawk, Denham’s Bustard, Double-toothed Barbet, Eastern Grey Plantain-Eater to mention but a few.

Since Murchison Falls National Park is on the great popular and top tourism destinations, the government of Uganda is tarmacking most of the roads running through the park to make it easily accessible by tourists on their way while doing game drives to spot wildlife species.

Furthermore the Paara Bridge (Tangi Gate) connecting to Masindi, Nwoya, Anaka, Buliisa, Nebbi, and Pakwach has been constructed to ease access between north and south banks of River Nile on a daily basis and opposed to using a ferry.

Among the Roads which have been constructed that go through the park include;

The Masindi-Biso Road(3km) which traverses through Budongo forest which is the primates Capital inhabiting primates such as Chimpanzees, Blue monkeys, Red tailed monkeys, black and white Colobus monkeys etc,

The Sambiya – Murchison Falls Road (12km),

 Masindi (Kisanja) – Murchison Falls Road Park Junction (72km)

Tangi Gate Road Juction -Paraa Bulisa

Paara – Packwach Road (24km)

Yoweri Kaguta Museveni the President of the Republic of Uganda, implemented for the much emphasis towards the Construction of the above roads which will ease navigation through Murchison falls National Park. This will boost the highest tourism industry of Uganda which is managed by Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) thus bringing in more Revenue to the sector from Tourists.
