Chimpanzee trekking in Uganda is normally conducted in two sessions, the morning session and the afternoon session, the morning session starts at 8:00am while the afternoon shift starts at 2:00pm. Either you go for chimp trekking in the morning or afternoon. A Uganda Chimpanzee trekking safari, normally starts in the morning with the briefing at the park’s headquarters led by the ranger guides who will guide you through the rules, regulations and expectations while with the forest and chimpanzee community. The activity is a bit tiresome but not has hectic as gorilla trekking tour but it also requires physical fitness to walk through the stiff terrain and sometimes, the ground is muddy in the forest which sometimes makes it difficult to trek through the forest, the trek normally lasts for 3 to 4 hours before you locate the chimpanzee.

Once the gorillas are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their habitat which gives you an opportunity to watch them carry out their daily activities like feeding, breastfeeding, playing, observe their behaviors, take great photos and record the breathtaking moments to show people back home.

Kibale Forest National Park is one of the best places in Uganda for chimpanzee trekking. It is one of the best destinations to visit in Uganda.  The sanctuary began with 19 chimpanzees but there could be over 50 individuals now. Ngamba island is found in Lake Victoria which is close to Entebbe town. The Island is covered with about 100 acres of forest which provide a natural environment and food for the chimpanzees. Visitors can take a boat ride to the island and witness these chimps being cared for by dedicated staff. How much is a chimpanzee trekking permit in Uganda

A chimpanzee trekking permit in Uganda is charged depending on your tracking destination, for kibale forest national park, a chimpanzee trekking permit costs $250 for foreign tourists who do not reside in the country, $200 for foreign residents, and UGX 180,000 for East African nationals.  While for chimpanzee habituation costs $300 per person for foreign non-residents, $250 per person for foreign residents and finally UGX 250 000 per person for East African Citizen.
