4 Days Gorilla trekking and habituation experience : The 4 days gorilla trekking and habituation experience is an exciting safari that starts and ends Uganda. The safari will take you to Bwindi impenetrable national park which is located in south-western part of Uganda and famously known for harboring the highest number of mountain gorillas which are found in four sectors namely Rushaga sector in the south, Buhoma sector in the north, Ruhija sector in the east and Nkuringo sector in the south. During the 4 days gorilla trekking and habituation experience, you will be able to engage in an adventurous gorilla trekking experience where you will be able to spend time with the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural environment.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park

Depending on your location on the first day of the 4 days gorilla trekking and habituation experience, you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park. On the way you will have a stopover at the Equator in Kayabwe where you will buy souvenirs and take photos. From the Equator, you will proceed with another stopover for en-route lunch where after you will continue the journey to the park with stunning views on the way. Upon arrival, you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi national park

After an early breakfast on the third day of the 4 days gorilla trekking and habituation experience, you will carry your packed lunch and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for gorilla trekking briefing. After the briefing, you will start trekking in the forest with an experienced park guide which takes about 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on where the gorillas are located because they like to move from one place to another in search of food. During trekking you will be able to view other primate species, birds among others and once the mountain gorillas are found, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their habitat which gives you an opportunity to learn more about their behaviours, habits, watch them carry out their daily activities like feeding, breastfeeding, playing, grooming young ones, take photos and record videos to show people back home.

After the one hour with the mountain gorillas, you will trek back to the starting point where you will meet up with your driver guide and return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Gorilla habituation experience

On the third day of the 4 days gorilla trekking and habituation experience, you will have an early breakfast, carry your lunch box and meet up with your driver guide to go for gorilla habituation briefing at the park headquarters. After the briefing, you will be allocated an experienced park guide and start trekking in the jungle which takes a whole day. Once the gorillas are located, you will be allowed to spend four hours with them in their habitat where you will be able to learn and monitor their behaviors, watch them carry out their daily activities, engage in the naming process, take photos and record videos.

 After the encounter with the gorillas, you will trek back to the starting point where you will be awarded a certificate for participating in gorilla habituation experience and later drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Departure to Kampala

On the last day of the 4 days gorilla trekking and habituation experience, you will have breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey back to Kampala. On the way, you will have en-route lunch and proceed to Kampala. Upon arrival, your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe international airport for your departure flight or drop off at any place of advise.
