Detailed itinerary

Day 1 of the 5 days Lake Mburo and Queen Elizabeth national park safari

Pick up and transfer to Lake Mburo national park, depending on your arrival time on the first day of the 5 days Lake Mburo and Queen Elizabeth national park safari you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Lake Mburo national park in western Uganda. The journey takes about 4 to 5 hours drive and on the way you will have a stopover at the Equator where you will buy souvenirs, take photos and then continue the journey to the park where you will check into the lodge and have lunch.

Boat cruise, after lunch you will go for an interesting boat cruise on Lake Mburo where you will have views of buffaloes, warthogs, antelopes along the shores, view hippos and crocodiles in water, aquatic birds like pied and malachite kingfisher, spur winged plover, water thick knee, African finfoot, African darter, hamerkop among others. After the boat cruise you will drive to the park for an evening game drive where you will be able to view animals like buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, waterbucks, warthogs and then transfer back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Morning game drive and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park

Morning game drive, after an early breakfast on the second day of the 5 Days Lake Mburo and Queen Elizabeth Wildlife Safari you will meet up with your driver guide to go for a morning game drive where you will be able to view animals when they are most active. You will therefore be able to view animals like zebras, buffaloes, impala, topi, waterbucks, bushbucks, elands, warthogs, giant forest hogs, giraffes grazing in savannah plains with due, if you are lucky you will be able to view predators like leopards, jackals, hyenas before they go back to their hiding areas, view different bird species like black bellied bustard, African wattled plover, southern red bishop, northern ground hornbill, lapped lark, yellow throated long claw, view the beautiful sunrise among others. After the game drive you will drive back to the lodge for lunch.

Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park, after lunch you will check out of the lodge and start the journey to Queen Elizabeth national park which is the second largest national park in Uganda. On the way you will have spectacular views of the beautiful scenery, Rwenzori mountain ranges, crater lakes, tea plantations among others. Upon arrival you will drive through the park with great views of animals like elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, warthogs among others to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise

Morning game drive/ lion tracking experience, on the third day of the 5 Days Lake Mburo and Queen Elizabeth Wildlife Safari you will have an early breakfast and meet up with your driver guide to go for a morning game drive in Kasenyi plains which starts as early as 6:30 am. During the game drive you will be able to view animals like elephants, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, buffaloes, giant forest hogs, bushbucks, warthogs among others grazing in the open savannah plains, predators like lions, leopards looking for a morning hunt, view different bird species like red throat spur fowl, martial eagle, African skimmer, grey crowned crane, yellow throated long crow, have views of the morning sunrise among others. After the game drive you will drive to the lodge for lunch.

Boat cruise, after lunch you will drive to the landing site near the luxury Mweya safari lodge for an interesting boat cruise on Kazinga channel, a water body that joins Lake Edward and Lake George. During the scheduled boat ride which takes about 2 hours you will be able to take incredible pictures of the beautiful scenery, cruise near animals like elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, waterbucks among others drinking water along the lake shores, view large concentrations of hippos and Nile crocodiles in water, aquatic bird species like kingfishers, fish eagles, long tailed cormorants, spur winged plover, squacco heron, black crake, papyrus gonolek, African jacana, bee-eaters, have views of the fishermen organizing their fishing nets for night fishing among others. After the amazing boat ride you will meet up with your driver guide and transfer to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Game drive in Ishasha sector and crater lakes

Game drive, after breakfast on the fourth day of the 5 days Lake Mburo and Queen Elizabeth national park safari your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for another game drive in Ishasha sector which is located in the southern part of Queen Elizabeth national park. Upon arrival in the sector you will go for a game drive where you will be able to view the tree climbing lions lying up in acacia/fig tree branches and also view other animals such as buffaloes, elephants, Uganda kobs, warthogs among others. After the game drive you will go for lunch and then drive to the crater lakes where you will be able to view people extracting rock salt from Lake Katwe, view animals which come to lick the salt and some bird species. From the crater lakes you will drive to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Departure to Kampala

After a relaxed breakfast on the last day of the 5 days Lake Mburo and Queen Elizabeth national park safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to go for a short game drive in the park where you will get an opportunity to see animals that you might have missed. After the game drive you will drive out of the park and start the journey to Kampala with en-route lunch in Mbarara town, after lunch you will proceed to Kampala. Upon arrival you will be dropped off at Entebbe international airport in case you have an evening flight to catch or drop off at any place of convenience.
