5 days Sipi falls and Kidepo wildlife tour is an exciting safari which will take you to Sipi falls where you will be able to engage in hiking to the three prominent waterfalls and also Kidepo valley national park which is the true African wilderness areas that harbors abundant wildlife species including animals like elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, giraffes, cheetahs, striped hyenas, zebras, warthogs and different bird species like ostriches, kori bustard among others which will be seen during the game drives.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Sipi falls

Pick up and transfer to Sipi falls, depending on your location on day 1 of the 5 days Sipi falls and Kidepo wildlife tour you will be picked by our representative to start the journey to Sipi falls which is located in eastern part of Uganda at the base of Mt Elgon in Kapchorwa district, north east of Sironko and Mbale. On the way you will pass through Mabira forest and Lugazi sugar plantations and upon arrival you will have lunch and then prepare yourself for hiking. During hiking you will be accompanied by a local guide starting with the top most waterfalls which is 100m, descend down to the bottom waterfall which is the main waterfall and then ascend till you reach on the shortest fall which is 75m. You will have spectacular views of the beautiful scenery of Mount Elgon and the sunset on top of the falls during trekking. After the waterfall hike you will drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Coffee tour experience and transfer to Kidepo national park

Coffee tour experience, after breakfast on day 2 of the 5 days Sipi falls and Kidepo wildlife tour you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to go for a coffee tour where you will visit local coffee plantations. During the tour you will be able to learn about Arabica coffee and its stage of production starting from planting, weeding, pruning, harvesting, drying, roasting, grinding, packing and tasting. After the coffee tour you will start the journey to Kidepo valley national park with en-route lunch and great views of beautiful scenery, traditional homesteads, local people among others on the way and upon arrival you will check into the lodge, have dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Full day game drive in Kidepo national park

Full day game drive, after an early breakfast on the third day of the 5 days Sipi falls and Kidepo wildlife tour you will carry your lunch box and meet up with your driver guide to go for a full day game drive. During the game drive which starts at around 6:30am you will be able to view predators like lions, leopards, cheetahs, spotted hyenas, jackals among others before they go back to their hiding areas, view animals like elephants, buffaloes, duikers, bushbucks, giraffes, zebras, waterbucks, warthogs among others grazing in the open plains with due, view different bird species, sunrise among others. After the morning game drive you will have lunch while having great views of animals or drive back to the lodge for lunch and return back for an afternoon game drive which starts at round 2:00pm. During the game drive you will drive to Narus River which is the only permanent water source in the park where you will get an opportunity to view abundant animals like elephants, buffaloes, reedbucks, Jacksons hartebeest, oribi, lions, klipspringer, waterbucks drinking water, bird species like black breasted barbet, yellow billed hornbill, little weaver, take beautiful photos among others. After the game drive you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Morning game drive and cultural tour

Morning game drive, after breakfast on the fourth day of the 5 days Sipi falls and Kidepo wildlife tour your driver guide will pick you from the lodge to go for another game drive which gives you an opportunity to view some of the animals that you might have missed during the previous day. During the game drive you will be able visit Kanangorok hot springs which lies 11km over the Kidepo River and situated between the hard rock with boiling water which heats beyond 50 degrees Celsius and flows at 1 liter per second. While at the hot spring you will have stunning views of the mountains beyond the frontier, view some animals, interact with different people who come to pay homage, offer sacrifices and seek blessings. After the game drive you will drive back to the lodge for lunch.

Cultural tour, after lunch you will go for cultural tour where you will visit the Karamajong pastoralists who live n the communities around the park at the borders of southern Sudan and Kenya. During the cultural tour you will get an opportunity to learn about their culture, tradition where men are allowed to marry as many wives as they can as long as they can pay dowry for them, view their instruments like spears, knives, beads, bows, visit their Manyatta homesteads, view half naked people decorated in tribal markings, listen to ancient stories, enjoy traditional entertained through cultural dances and drama among others. After the cultural tour you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Departure to Kampala

After breakfast on the last day of the 5 days Sipi falls and Kidepo wildlife tour, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kampala. On the way you will pass via Gulu- Kitgum with en-route lunch and then proceed to Kampala where you will reach late evening. Upon arrival your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe airport for your departure flight or drop off at the hotel.
