Cities in Uganda : Uganda amazingly known as the Pearl of Africa is found in East Africa and is amazed with various beautiful sceneries and natural endowments such as mountains, hills, Savannah vegetation, diverse cultural heritage and very hospitable and beautiful people. Uganda has no coastline as it bordered by Kenya to the East, Rwanda and Tanzania to the south, South Sudan to the north and Democratic Republic of Congo to the west hence making it land locked. This has however not stopped Uganda from developing from all the past years.

Uganda is renowned for its naturally beautiful people and rich diverse cultural heritage and it has over 56 tribes and over 60 different languages spoken, vibrant life of party especially on the nights of Friday, Saturday and Sunday especially in Bars, wineries and clubs in the town and so much more one can discover when they visit the Towns of Uganda. Uganda as a country has one Capital city known Kampala and several other Cities that have been recently pronounced and several more towns that are yet to acquire city status.

The major cities of Uganda include;

KAMPALA CITY

Kampala capital is the largest and most urban city of Uganda, with a population of approximately of 1.5 million people as of 2014 population census. Kampala city comprise of 7 hills namely Namirembe hill that has the Anglican (church of Uganda) Cathedral, Makerere hill, Kololo hill, Kibuli hill, Rubaga hill known for the Catholic cathedral, Nakasero hill, Mengo hill, Mulago hill and Old Kampala hill which is home to Uganda National Museum also commonly Gaddafi Mosque this is the biggest mosque in East Africa. Kampala city is the main and central political and economic command of the country.

ARUA CITY

Arua city is found in the west Nile region Uganda bordering South Sudan and Democratic republic of Congo. Due to all this opportunity, Arua has become a growing commercial and transport city. It is also home to Ajai wildlife reserve which has numerous wildlife and bird species and also a famous route to Murchison falls national park which is a few miles away. Arua also has a steadily growing population that explain the vibrancy on the streets and also during night life times especially during happy hours at bars and restaurants.

ENTEBBE CITY

Entebbe city is one of Uganda’s beautiful towns and while on a Uganda city tour, one can visit its beautiful endowments such as the banks of Lake Victoria, the international airport of the country, Uganda wildlife educational centre, Entebbe botanical garden, Uganda Reptile village, the crafts markets, to mention but a few. While at Entebbe one can also visit the beautiful beaches on the shores of Lake Victoria such Lido, aero, sports, one love beach busabala  to mention but a few all this is a beauty of Entebbe city.

GULU CITY

Gulu is the biggest town in northern Uganda and is approximately 332 Km from Kampala city. Gulu city has a rich and diverse cultural heritage and has the beautiful and famous traditional dance known as Lara karaka where girls shake their waist while boys beat the calabash. They are have very many educative traditional songs and has a vibrant main market with all groceries, clothing, textiles, crafts to mention but a few. Night life at Gulu city is also so fun.

MBALE CITY

Mbale city is located at the foot hills of mount Elgon approximately that has beautiful and stunning landscapes and natural wonder like Sipi falls, lush green vegetation, various high hills like Wanale hill, semei kakungulu hill which offers stunning panoramic views of the city and this also provides great hiking opportunities up to the highest peaks. This City is famous for its presence of rocks and beautiful falls.

JINJA CITY

Jinja city is one of Uganda’s famous tourist destinations and is home to the source of Nile River the longest river in Uganda and Africa. Jinja city has a lot of Adventure spots such as Bungee jumping, Gulfing, cycling, white water rafting, horse riding, Zip lining, it is also home to Bujagali falls to mention but a few.

MBARARA CITY

Mbarara city is home to the beautiful women of Uganda also known as the Banyankole. The people in this town carryout a lot of cattle rearing particularly for dairy purposes, beef and is greatly associated as source of wealth and pride and crop growing. Mbarara city is a typical Agricultural city and is surrounded by beautiful green hills, trees, valleys and scenic landscapes and this is the biggest town next to the national parks in western Uganda such as Queen Elizabeth National Park.

FORT PORTAL CITY

Fort portal city is also known as the tourist city found in Kabarole district, Fort portal is a home to many natural wonders in Uganda such as Rwenzori ranges, Semliki national park, Toro kingdom, Amabere Ga nyina Mwiru. Fort Portal city is located in the western part of Uganda and is a few Rwenzori Mountains, it is approximately 295.6km from Kampala capital city of Uganda.

Fort portal can be visited throughout the year. However, one is advised to were protective clothing especially during hiking times and also in case of weather changes to avoid getting cold while on a Uganda city tour.
