3 Days Rwanda Gorillas and Dian Fossey hike
The 3 days Rwanda gorillas and Dian fossey hike is an interesting safari that starts and ends in Kigali Rwanda. The safari will take you to Volcanoes national park located in north-western part of Rwanda where you will engage in an adventurous gorilla trekking experience where you will be able to spend time with the mountain gorillas in their natural environment. During the 3 days Rwanda gorillas and Dian fossey hike, you will also engage in Dian fossey hike and Ibyi’wacu cultural tour where you will be able to interact with the local people in the neighboring villages.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Volcanoes national park
On the first day of the 3 days Rwanda gorillas and Dian fossey hike, our driver guide will pick you up from your hotel or airport, brief you about the safari and then go for a short Kigali city tour where you will be able to visit art/craft centres, Kigali genocide memorial centre, Kimironko market among others. After the city tour, you will have lunch and later start the journey to Volcanoes national park which takes about 2 to 3 hours’ drive. Upon arrival at the lodge, you will connect to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking experience and Ibyi’wacu cultural tour
After an early breakfast on the second day of the 3 days Rwanda gorillas and Dian fossey hike, you will carry your packed lunch and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for gorilla trekking briefing. After the briefing, you will start trekking in the forest with an experienced park guide which takes about 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on where the gorillas are located. During trekking you will be able to view other wildlife species and once the mountain gorillas are located, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their habitat which gives you an opportunity to learn more about their behaviours, habits, watch them carry out their daily activities like feeding, breastfeeding, playing, grooming young ones, take photos and record videos to show people back home.
After the one hour with the mountain gorillas, you will trek back to the starting point where you will meet up with your driver guide and go for an exciting cultural tour where you will be able to interact the local people who live in the neighboring villages, learn about their history, culture, lifestyle, way of living, visit their homesteads, listen to their ancient stories, enjoy their traditional performance among others. After the cultural tour, you will return to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Dian fossey hike and departure to Kigali
On the last day of the 3 days Rwanda gorillas and Dian fossey hike, you will have breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kinigi park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will start hiking to the grave of Dian fossey which takes about 2 ours and during the hike you will enjoy great views of the park, plant and tree species, spot some animals like, primates, birds, Virunga ranges among others. Upon arrival, you will see Dian fosseys tomb which is next to that of her favourite gorilla Digit and other gorillas, you will also be able to learn about Dian fossey’s work with the gorillas, take photos of the site where she was murdered among others.
Later, you will descend back to the starting point where you will meet up with your driver guide and start the journey back to Kigali and upon arrival, you will go for lunch. After lunch, your driver guide will drop you off at Kigali international airport for your departure flight or drop off at any place of advise.
