The 5 days double gorilla trekking safari in Bwindi is an exceptional safari that starts and ends in Uganda. The safari will take you to Bwindi impenetrable national park which is located in the south-western part of Uganda and famously known for harbouring the highest number of mountain gorillas which are found in four sectors namely rushaga sector in the south, Buhoma sector in the north, ruhija sector in the east and Nkuringo sector in the south. Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to a hotel in Entebbe
Depending on your arrival time at Entebbe International Airport on the first day of the 5 days double gorilla trekking in Bwindi, our driver guide will pick you up from the airport, brief you about the safari and then transfer to the hotel in Entebbe for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park
After breakfast on the second day of the 5 days double gorilla trekking in Bwindi, our driver guide will pick you up from your hotel to start the journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park. On the way you will have a stopover at the Equator in Kayabwe where you will buy souvenirs and take photos. From the Equator, you will proceed with another stopover for en-route lunch where after you will continue the journey to the park with stunning views on the way. Upon arrival, you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: First gorilla trekking experience in Buhoma sector and transfer to Ruhija sector
After an early breakfast on the third day of the 5 days double gorilla trekking safari in Bwindi, you will carry your packed lunch and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for gorilla trekking briefing. After the briefing, you will start trekking in the forest with an experienced park guide which takes about 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on where the gorillas are located because they like to move from one place to another in search of food. During trekking you will be able to view other primate species, birds among others and once the mountain gorillas are found, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their habitat which gives you an opportunity to learn more about their behaviours, habits, watch them carry out their daily activities like feeding, breastfeeding, playing, grooming young ones, take photos and record videos to show people back home.
After the one hour with the mountain gorillas, you will trek back to the starting point where you will meet up with your driver guide and start the journey to Ruhija sector in the eastern part of Bwindi National Park which takes about 2 to 3 hours drive. Upon arrival, you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Second gorilla trekking experience in Ruhija sector
On the fourth day of the 5 days double gorilla trekking safari in Bwindi, you will have breakfast, carry your lunch box and meet up with your driver guide to go for gorilla trekking briefing at the park headquarters. After the briefing, you will be allocated a gorilla family to trek and start trekking in the jungle in search of the habituated gorillas which takes about 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on where they are located. Once the gorilla family is located, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in the habitat where you will be able to learn about their behaviours, watch them carry out their daily activities, take photos and record videos.
After the encounter with the gorillas, you will trek back to the starting point where you will be awarded a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking and then meet up with your driver guide to go for an optional Batwa cultural tour where you will be able to interact with the Batwa people, learn about their culture, tradition, way of living, enjoy their traditional performance among others. After the cultural tour, you will return back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Departure to Kampala
On the last day of the 5 days double gorilla trekking safari in Bwindi, you will have breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey back to Kampala. On the way, you will have en-route lunch and proceed to Kampala. Upon arrival, your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight or drop you off at any place of advice.
