9 Days Uganda Big 5 & Primates Safari allows you to enjoy fifty percent of Uganda’s most attractive destinations including Murchison falls national park, Kibale national park, Queen Elizabeth national park, and Bwindi Impenetrable national park. All these destinations have unique features that are worth visiting. Murchison falls National Park is home to the most powerful waterfalls in Africa along the River Nile. It also has plenty of wildlife like to see as compared to any other national park in Uganda. Ziwa rhino sanctuary completes the Big five game experience. Kibale national park is home to the endangered chimpanzees in Africa. It is said to be the best destination in Africa to see the chimpanzees and other 12 primates’ species such as the Colobus monkeys, Red Velvet monkeys and many others. Queen Elizabeth national park is a home to the tree climbing lions in Uganda, making it the second place in Africa to see the tree climbing lions after those in Lake Manyara in Tanzania. This park also has a few more animals to see and a good destination for birdwatching especially during the boat cruise along the Kazinga channel. Bwindi Impenetrable national park is home to half of the remaining mountain gorilla in the world. Bwindi forest is divided into 4 sectors of gorilla trekking. This is the only place to enjoy and explore the endangered mountain gorillas. Mgahinga national park which is the smallest national park in Uganda is home to mountain gorillas and Golden monkeys located on the Virunga Mountains, these primates are very similar to those of Rwanda however cheaper to experience as compared to Rwanda. Day 1: Arrival in Kampala
Upon arrival at Entebbe airport, you will be met by our company representative/ driver who will drive you to your booked hotel in Kampala. Dinner and overnight stay in Fairway Hotel/Forest Cottages/Shereton Hotel Kampala
Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park.
After breakfast, you will be welcomed by our company representative/guide who will then transfer to Bwindi national park. It’s an 8-9 hours’ drive with en-route lunch and stop at the Uganda Equator. Proceed to Bwindi forest at your booked lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Buhoma Haven Lodge/Buhoma Community Rest Camp/Sanctaury Gorilla Forest Camp
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking experience.
Have breakfast and transfer you to park offices for briefing about Mountain Gorilla trekking by a local guide. The time taken is usually between 2-8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. Meeting the gorillas unexpectedly is one of the most captivating lifetime experiences. You will have a chance to observe and take pictures at a very close range. You will observe adults feeding and groaning among themselves. After an hour with the long-awaited gorillas, your guide and rangers will lead you back to the starting point where your driver will readily be waiting to transfer you back to the lodge for a restful evening. Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park and Ishasha game drive
After having breakfast early morning, connect and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park-a home to the tree-climbing lions. This is a 4 to 5 hours journey with a stopover lunch via the Ishasha sector. Arrive in the park in the early afternoon and have lunch in Ishasha where you will also enjoy a game drive in the area finding the tree-climbing lions and other available animals. Thereafter drive to your lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight stay at Parkview Safari lodge/Mweya Safari Lodge/Pumba Safari Cottages
Day 5: Game Drive and Boat cruise on Kazinga channel
Go for an early morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth national park where you will spot a lot of wildlife including African elephants, lions, buffalos, antelopes, impala, among others, and a lot of birds, and a good day leopards. Return to the lodge for breakfast, relax a bit and enjoy your lunch.
Connect for a boat cruise along the Kazinga channel where you will get an opportunity to see a number of bird species, elephants and buffaloes, hippos, and crocodiles. The Kazinga channel is known to have the highest concentration of hippos. Retreat from the boat trip in the evening and check-in your lodge for relaxation. Dinner and overnight stay at lodge as above
Day 6: Transfer to Kibale national park for afternoon Chimpanzee trekking
Wake up and enjoy your breakfast. Meet your driver to drive to Kibale national park. Have early lunch then connect to the park headquarters for your afternoon chimpanzee trekking experience; you will be briefed by the park officials thereafter enter the forest for your chimpanzee trekking. The search takes about 2-5 hours depending on the location of the chimps. On seeing the chimpanzees, you will be granted 1 hour in their presence. Day 7: Transfer to Murchison falls national park
After breakfast, check-out of the hotel and transfer to Murchison falls national park with en-route lunch via Papidi- Hoima road. It’s a 7-8 hours’ drive reaching Murchison late afternoon. Connect through one of the gates to your booked lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Pakuba Safari lodge/Red Chilly Rest Camp/Paraa Safari Lodge
Day 8: Game drive and launch cruise and hike to the top of the falls
Early morning breakfast and then go for a morning game drive at the delta where you may spot various animal species like elephants, giraffes, lions, Uganda kobs among others. Return and have lunch then at 2 pm, you will go for a launch cruise at the bottom of the Murchison Falls along River Nile, enjoy streaming views of hippo and serried ranges of crocodile along the sandbanks, as well as large numbers of different species getting down to drink & bathe.
After the boat cruise at the bottom of the falls, you will hike up the top of the falls where you will be picked up by your driver to return to your lodge. Dinner and overnight at lodge as the above
Day 9: Ziwa rhino sanctuary and drive to Entebbe – Departure
After breakfast at the lodge, drive out of the park and connect to the Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for a rhino tracking for 2-3 hours and have your lunch before you drive back to Kampala. You will connect to your hotel close to Entebbe airport or be dropped at Entebbe International Airport for your onward flight back home.
