Sezibwa Falls is located in Buike district in the central part of Uganda. It takes approximately 32 kilometers from Kampala capital city of Uganda Kampala this fall is located near Jinja Uganda’s tourist city.

found on river Sezibwa that flows and empties its waters in Lake Kyoga it is also strategically next to Mabira Central Forest Reserve and the source of the Nile River. Sezibwa is believed by the Baganda people to have been born by a woman known as Nakkungu Tebatuusa while on her way to Kavuma Bukunja.

The name Sezibwa is a local idiom referring to “something endless”. The Sezibwa Falls are also considered an important cultural and spiritual site for the Baganda people, Sezibwa falls is more than just water but also a place of natural wonders, ecological Importance, and cultural reverence, as a sacred site and cultural heritage landmark it embodies the spiritual connection between the Baganda people and the natural world. The management of the facility discourages swimming in the beautiful pool after the falls, especially for those who aren’t good at swimming. I suspect that there have been some deaths here. If you are an experienced swimmer and want to play with nature, then no one will stop you.

Here visitors can even visit one of the well-known shrines at Sezibwa called ‘Mbuga   ya  Musoke’ locals claim to have a big snake called a python also locally known as ‘Nalongo’ where people spend days and nights offering sacrifices and ritual performances in order to delivered from all their sufferings.

Apart from the waterfalls, the beautiful green environment, rocks and trees look good on the camera. How to reach Sezibwa Falls

From Kampala, the distance to the Sezibwa Waterfalls is about 30km. Once you join the Junction heading to the falls, the road is made of murram. You need a good  4-wheel drive Car to go through this rough patch, especially during the rainy season.
